If you are a rubber stamp fanatic like me (according to my wife), the Casio Pomrie STC-U10 Stamp Maker might be the ideal tool for you.
Around the size of two ez-link cards and as tall as a business card, the Pomrie is a compact USB thermal printer that allows you to create personalised rubber stamps.
There is a thin slot in front and at the rear of the printer. On the top is power button with the Pomrie label. It works only through a computer via a micro-USB connection.
To get started, download and install the Casio Stamp Maker STC-MC10 software (Windows and Mac).
The software is easy to use and very simple. Select the size of your rubber stamp from 11 sizes.
Next, select the graphics or illustrations that come with the software, or import your own photos. The software also allows you to add text, borders and even doodles, if you wish. After you finish your stamp design, power up the Pomrie.
The printer comes with a 15mm x 15mm stamp kit and a 5ml bottle of black pigment ink. Each stamp kit consists of a stamp sheet holder, a wooden grip, a removable stamp base and a cap.
When you are ready to print, click on Print in the software. You will be prompted to insert the stamp sheet holder; put it in gently into the rear slot. Printing will start automatically.
Printing takes at most 30sec to complete. Once it is done, remove the stamp sheet from the holder, then peel off the double-sided tape protector of the stamp base and attach the stamp sheet to it.
The last step is probably the most difficult - applying the pigment ink to the stamp sheet. You have to be patient and gentle when applying ink on the lines of the 3-D image. You can apply inks of different colours to different parts of the stamp - for example, red on the text and brown on the graphics.
After the application, wait for 10min to let the ink seep into the stamp sheet, and the stamp is ready for use. It is recommended that you stamp about 10 times to get a clear image.
The printer does a really good job with the customised stamp sheets. But if the images are too detailed, the resulting stamps may not be distinct. If you want to import photos, make sure you add standard or outline effects to simplify them. Choose simple graphics and design for the best results.
There are larger stamp kits and replacement stamp sheet holders (that come with the removable stamp base) in a variety of sizes - 30mm x 60mm, 45mm x 45mm and 15mm x 60mm.
The prices of these kits range from $9.90 to $29.90. Pigment inks ($5.90) also come in black, red, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple and brown.
The Casio Pomrie STC-U10 Stamp Maker is a fun and affordable way to create personalised rubber stamps. These customised stamps are a great way to add a personal touch to letters or greeting cards. Children will find it particularly fun and useful for embellishing their scrapbooks.
