Comex IT fair's 20th year sees strong turnout, sales

Comex, Singapore's biggest IT and consumer electronics exhibition, saw a large turnout and strong sales over the weekend on its 20th anniversary.

Organisers said they expected figures to match last year's 780,000 visitors and $74.5 million in sales.

Items that flew off the shelves at Suntec Singapore this year included tablet-laptop hybrids.

Comex is organised by Exhibits Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sphere Exhibits, the events and exhibitions arm of Singapore Press Holdings.

Its 20th year had a new event concept to mark the occasion.

At the Tech Fashion Show, visitors took selfies with models, then uploaded them to Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win cash prizes. Meanwhile, avid gamers thronged the Gamers' Hub to watch matches.

And as always, there were launches of gadgets, such as Lenovo's Horizon 2 tablet PC and Casio's G-Shock GPW1000, the first watch to combine GPS and atomic clock radio time syncing.
