Extended 'maintenance' mars launch of enhanced SingPass

SINGAPORE - An extended "maintenance" has marred the launch of the enhanced SingPass. Users were unable to access the SingPass website on Monday morning.

The enhanced SingPass, which uses two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect data, was launched on Sunday morning (July 5). Prior to the launch, the website was down for maintenance from 10pm on Saturday night (July 4) to 10am on Sunday morning.

Channel NewsAsia reported that the SingPass website was down on Monday morning when it checked, at around 10.30am.

Users were met with a page that said "system maintenance in progress".

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) said on its Facebook page that the SingPass site was "experiencing high traffic", and that its team is "working to resolve the issue".

As of 2pm today, the website appears to be back up.
