Get cash vouchers for your old gadgets

DO NOT throw away that old gadget yet.

Consumers can trade in their old laptops, tablets and smartphones for cash vouchers to offset the purchase of their favourite gadgets at the IT Show from today till Sunday.

The cash vouchers are in denominations of $10 and will be accepted by most of the show's exhibitors and major retailers, including Asus, Casio, EpiCentre and Challenger.

"We believe that most of our consumers will appreciate the convenience of a one-stop shop facility at our show," said Mr Eric Ng, marketing head of Exhibits Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings, the organiser of IT Show 2015.

The trade-in booth will be located outside the entrance to Hall 402 on level 4 of Suntec Singapore.

The IT fair, open from noon to 9pm daily, is spread across levels 3, 4 and 6.

A typical Intel Core i5 laptop in good working condition can be traded in for cash vouchers worth from $150 to $600.

There is no limit to how many vouchers consumers can get for their trade-in gadgets.

"It's a very good initiative to offer trade-in services. And I believe this will benefit exhibitors like us, as it will attract more consumers to the IT Show," said Miss Evelyn Chua, head of operation and business development at electronics retailer EpiCentre.

There are plenty of other promotions at the show.

Visitors who spend a minimum of $100 can bid for their favourite gadgets at a daily auction. The gadgets include the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge 4G+, the Parrot MiniDrone Rolling Spider and the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro.

In addition, for every $100 spent, visitors will get a chance to win up to $20,000 worth of cash prizes in a lucky draw.

International brands such as Asus, Acer, Casio, HP and Lenovo will be displaying their latest wares, such as the Asus Transformer Book Chi two-in-one laptops and the Casio Exilim EX-ZR3500 selfie camera.
