KTV outlets closed? Keep singing at home with the KBar All-in-One Karaoke System

When the clock struck midnight on March 27, it marked the start of temporary closures of all entertainment venues, including Singaporean hotspots of broken tunes and unrestrained warbling: KTV outlets.

It’s a strange time to live in right now when a global pandemic has essentially driven everyone around the world indoors to both work and play. And sing too.

Instead of going outside for a full-fledged KTV experience, the KTV experience can actually come to you — albeit without all the dingy neon lighting, kitschy decor and other hallmarks of a standard karaoke joint.

Local chain HaveFun Karaoke wants the music to continue amidst the outbreak with a karaoke kit rental service for a proper KTV party at home. And yes, it comes with bottles of strong spirits too.

We covered this back in February when HaveFun first launched the service during the early days of the coronavirus outbreak. Now that the pandemic has grown to an even scarier scale, perhaps KTV-diehards are hankering to scratch that itch to belt out some Backstreet Boys and Jay Chou on a really reverb-y sound system.

Perhaps HaveFun had the right premonition when they conceptualised their proprietary KBar All-in-One Karaoke System — here was a way to distract yourselves from all the grim news safe at home. It comes with two (sanitised) microphones, people to help set things up, a cloud library of over 300,000 songs and a booming contraption that you don't even need to hook up to a television (though you totally can). Plus, the included alcohol would certainly add to the fun.

In our latest episode of Unwrapped, check out what our resident crooner Jarvis Quek had to say about the hefty device that really is an all-in-one machine for your karaoke needs.
