Lenovo sets up a sweet space for the PC Master Race in its flagship store at Funan

As much as we might miss them, gone are the days where Funan was a shopping bastion for everything a tech native would need or want.

Today, it's a proper lifestyle mall that would appeal to folks beyond the geeky spectrum - what with all the Instagram-ready F&B joints, trendy fashion stores, and… free shower facilities? Okay, that last one's pretty useful.

But that's not to say that the mall's nerd appeal is gone. Yesterday (July 18), Lenovo made sure that the techie spirit lives on by opening its very own flagship store in Funan, tailoring the establishment to be the one-stop destination for all its products in Singapore.

Notably one of the largest tenants in the building, the Lenovo Experience Store stands at a remarkable size of 4,500 square feet. The huge space is further segmented into different zones where the needs of various consumers across all ages would be catered to. Yes, even the Merdeka generation, who might not be that tech-savvy but would appreciate a basic rig for everyday use.

Known more for its popular line of solid business-oriented ThinkPad laptops, Lenovo really wants to make inroads into the booming esports market, and it shows. Back in April, Lenovo announced a sponsorship deal with local esports organisation Resurgence under the company's Legion gaming brand.

On the hardware side of things, Lenovo's overarching message is that the gamers of today want machines that can seamlessly fit in any environment, regardless of work or play.

As such, the company unveiled its new line-up of (relatively) minimalist gaming laptops - sleek enough to bring to the office, but powerful enough to run games with beastly spec requirements.

For the diehards, there's the more extensive Legion Y740 and Legion Y540 gaming laptops, where they seem to fit in just about anywhere (be it slugging away in Fortnite on-the-go). The Legion Y7000 SE, on the other hand, was made with Lenovo's first generation of gaming laptops in mind and hosts the crimson red "Y" lighting, as well as a matching full-sized red-backlit keyboard.

Refreshing its existing Thinkpad product line, Lenovo launched a touch of gaming flair to its business laptops with gaming-centric software - the Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming. Setting itself apart from the rest of the line-up, the IdeaPad L340 offers "Quick" and "Quiet" modes for "closet gamers" to squeeze in a session of Apex Legends in the office.

The four laptops — as well as Lenovo's array of high-end PCs, monitors, and ancillary devices — are all on display at the store's dedicated gaming space. Customers can interact with the Legion devices in a fully decked-out zone complete with gaming chairs, keyboards, and headsets for the complete experience.

Worth popping by if you happen to be in Funan; find the Lenovo flagship store at #03-19.
