Unless you are a hardcore gamer or someone who thinks carrying a few extra kilograms in the form of your gaming laptop while you commute to class or to work counts as your daily workout, your shoulders and spine would be a lot happier (and not to mention less sore) if you actually opted for a device that is lighter. A device like LG's 2023 gram SuperSlim and UltraPC laptops.

These new devices under the gram brand are light in terms of weight and slim in terms of size but are heavy hitters when it comes to their performance. So you do not have to worry about compromises in terms of performance and features.

The latest LG gram SuperSlim (15Z90RT) has won the iF Design Award 2023 and Red Dot Award 2023 for its exceptional design and innovation. This is the thinnest gram model LG has produced to date as it s only 10.9mm thick when closed and weighs in at just 990g.

However, this portable powerhouse packs a 15.6-inch OLED 16:9 FHD display that meets the DCI-P3 100per cent standards, meaning it produces images with accurate and vibrant colours. The display also has a 0.2ms response time to ensure that action in games and videos are fluid and smooth.

Under that svelte shell, the gram SuperSlim can be powered by up to the 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P CPU that helps to ensure you always have lighting-fast performance even when multitasking or running resource-intensive applications.

The laptop is also equipped with a 512GB Gen 4 NVMe solid-state drive and 16GB worth of LPDDR5 RAM that promises fast boot-up times and application loading. Graphic processing duties are handled by Intel Xe Graphics. To ensure you stay productive and the laptop powered throughout your day, the LG gram SuperSlim has a 60W battery that is said to last up to 20 hours.

Launching alongside the gram SuperSlim is the LG gram UltraPC (16U70R) which is the more mainstream model designed to cater to a wider range of users. This 16-inch laptop weighs in at 1.6kg and has a 16:10 WUXGA (1,920 x 1,080) Anti-glare IPS display and is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 7530U CPU, which also comes with AMD Radeon Graphics. Combined with the 16GB worth of LPDDR4 RAM and 512GB Gen 3 NVMe solid-state drive, the UltraPC will breeze through most of your tasks. Finally, in terms of battery, the gram UltraPC packs a 72W battery that is stated to last up to 20 hours.

These new LG gram laptops feature Anti-Glare Low Reflection (ALGR) displays, which minimise glare and provide a comfortable viewing experience regardless of how bright your surroundings may be. On top of that, they also have the LG Glance feature by Mirametrix that uses AI-based technology for facial recognition that automatically locks the screen once you step away from the laptop and is able to detect if someone is looking over your shoulder for added security.

Pricing-wise, the LG gram SuperSlim (15Z90RT) has a starting price of $2,299 while the LG gram UltraPC is priced at $1,699. These laptops are only available in Singapore and can be purchased from LG's official Shopee, Lazada, Krishop, Amazon and authorised retailers — Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Gain City and Harvey Norman.
