Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg launch Apple Watch applications

SINGAPORE - Hot on the heels of the successful launch of the AsiaOne Apple watch app by SPH digital in June, SPH has added another two mobile applications for Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg.

The Chinese evening daily and the bilingual news and entertainment website launched their respective mobile applications for Apple Watch on Aug 26, allowing users easy access to the latest news while on the go.

Lianhe Wanbao is the first Chinese evening daily in Singapore to launch an iPhone mobile app which is now available on Apple Watch. iPhone users who pair the app with the Apple Watch will receive notifications to access the latest local, world and entertainment news stories.

omy.sg is the first bilingual news website in Singapore to launch two apps for the Apple Watch. The two apps are omy News and omy Showbiz.

With the two new apps, users can now receive breaking news, entertainment and lifestyle stories via notifications on their Apple Watch. They can scroll and scan through the latest headlines or bookmark the news stories in their app for reading on their mobile device at a convenient time.

New users can now download the Lianhe Wanbao, omy News and omy Showbiz apps for free from the App Store. For current iPhone users of Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg apps, they will need to upgrade their iPhone apps to the latest version in order for them to enjoy full access to the Apple Watch app functions.

With the launch of the Lianhe Wanbao, omy News and omy Showbiz apps on Apple Watch, all digital apps developed by SPH's Chinese Media Group are now available on Apple Watch.

SPH's flagship Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao had recently launched its mobile app for Apple Watch in July, while AsiaOne was the first SPH website to create a locally-developed app for the Apple Watch.
