New iPhone to launch on Sept 25?

In case you missed it, Apple will be holding an event tomorrow morning in which it's expected to unveil several new products, including new iPhones.

While it was rumored earlier that sales of the new iPhones, widely expected to be called iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, will start on Sept 18, sources familiar with the matter have told me the launch date is actually Sept 25. And since stock is always constrained on launch day, walk-in sales should begin the next day, Sept 26.

If Apple and the telcos are to follow their patterns last year, pre-orders for the new iPhones are also expected to begin on Sept 18, with registration of interest from the telcos (if they are still doing it) likely to happen on Sept 16. Based on past records, telco price plans are likely to be revealed either on Sept 18 or 21, with appointment bookings starting soon after.

iOS 9 is also expected to drop a few days before the launch of the new iPhones; and since Apple is a creature of habit, that's likely to be Sept 23.

Tl;dr? Get your wallet ready for Sept 25.
