Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary

Through your binoculars, you spy a beautiful kingfisher grabbing a fish in Sungei Buloh. However, your camera equipment is not up to the task.

Try the new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens.

An optimised Hyper Sonic Motor and a new optical stabiliser with an accelerometer for improved panning photography will let you capture wildlife on the wing.

Weighing less than 2kg, this compact hyper-telephoto lens will be a useful companion on treks to great locations. It is available in mounts for Canon, Nikon and Sigma DSLRs.

FiiO X3 II

This high-resolution digital audio player may well convert you into an audiophile, with its native Direct Stream Digital (DSD) support.

DSD audio files are considered to be far superior in quality and dynamic range than regular high-resolution audio formats, such as Lossless 24-bit. The player comes with a 2-inch display, a standard headphone jack, a coaxial/line port and a microUSB port.

LG WD-1410TS

LG says with the company's TurboWash technology, the WD-1410TS front-loading washing machine uses 15 per cent less energy and 40 per cent less water than conventional washing machines. This is a great way to save on your utility bill.

The 10kg-load washing machine also features Jet Spray technology for a speedier wash. It sprays your clothes directly for 2min and this rinse blitzing lets it bypass the lengthy rinsing stage of other washers. Mix, Easy Care and other common wash cycles take less than an hour.

Microsoft Lumia 430 Dual SIM

This is the most affordable Lumia model, which can be upgraded to the upcoming Windows 10 system when it becomes available.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core 1.2GHz processor powers its latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.

The 4-inch Lumia 430 dual-SIM smartphone is pre-loaded with productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office, Skype and OneDrive, so you can operate it with ease when on the road.

When overseas, buy a prepaid data SIM card for the second SIM slot and save on data-roaming charges.

Plantronics Explorer 500

A Bluetooth headset lets you answer calls safely while you are driving. However, it can be a chore remembering to recharge the headset.

Plantronics' Explorer 500 headset comes with a strap which doubles as a USB charger cable. You can loop the strap around a bag or key chain to ensure the headset is always nearby.

At the touch of a button, you can summon Siri, Google Now or Cortana for help - in English, French or Spanish. You can even customise one of the three voice assistants to receive whispered status alerts when it is time to recharge or to reconnect. The alerts are automatic. You just need to choose the language.

The Explorer 500 is available in black or white.
