SINGAPORE - Sony is launching a new version of the Playstation4 (PS4) in Japan at the end of the month. The new console will also become available in North America, Europe and Asia after the Japan launch.
In a statement today (June 22), Sony said that the new PS4 will be 10 per cent lighter and consume 8 per cent less power, compared to the current PS4 model.
The finish on the surface of the hard disk bay cover will also become matte, "giving the system a more casual look", said Sony.
Looking at the specification of the new model, the dimensions remain unchanged.
Recommended retail price also remains unchanged, at US$399 (S$532). The console will sell in Japan for $39,980 yen (S$434), before taxes.
