Two robotic chefs were shipped from Daqing, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, on Thursday to be used to cook for medical workers and patients at Leishenshan, or "Thunder God Mountain", Hospital in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

Daqing-based Discoverer Robot Co Ltd donated the two machines valued 347,000 yuan (S$69,000) for the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, according to Li Hui, general manager of the company.

"The degree of automation of our robotic chefs ranks tops in the nation," Li said. "A single person can easily operate the two machines that can cook dishes for 1,200 people within an hour. The robotic chefs can save manpower and also greatly reduce the probability and risk of infection during the cooking process," he added.

Due to the epidemic, the company has sent videos to the logistics department of the hospital providing operating guidance for the robots.

"We hope the donation can help provide safe, tasty and nutritious meals to the medical workers and patients," Li said.
