Android and iOS Price: $60
Key feature: One-for-one deals on dining, spa treatments, hotel stays and leisure activities.
The best things in life are not free, and $60 seems a lot to pay for an app that offers discounts, but it paid for itself the very first time I used it.
Once payment has been made, it unlocks one-for-one deals on more than 250 eateries around town, ranging from drinks at Woobbee Bubble Tea, to deals at Brewerkz and Bedrock Bar & Grill.
As Bedrock charges more than $90 for a steak, I would say that this app lives up to expectations.
The catch is that there are only three one-for-one vouchers per establishment per app, so users cannot cash in the same deal repeatedly at the same eatery.
The good news is that the three vouchers can be used at the same time. So you can take along five friends or family members per visit.
Users can search the app for partner restaurants nearby (using the phone's GPS), and even keep track of the total savings to date.
One caveat: All promotions end this year, so if you intend to buy the app, do it early in the year.
2 Samsung Galaxy Life
Android Price: Free
Key features: Discounts on food, spa treatments and leisure activities.
Think of Samsung Galaxy Life as a membership-only club for Samsung Android device owners
The app lists a variety of discounts and promotions. Upon activating a promotion, you have an hour to redeem the voucher.
Deals change frequently. The first time I used it was late last year, when app users were offered a free scoop of Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
Last month's offer was one-for-one order of wings at a Korean restaurant called Chicken Up. This month, it is one-for-one pizza or pasta at Mad For Garlic and 30 per cent off the bill at NamNam Noodle Bar.
Android and iOS Price: Free
Key feature: Food discounts depending on the time of day.
Have you ever wondered what restaurants do in the lull between lunch and dinner, when no one normally thinks about eating
The guys behind Eatigo have. Their proposition: Rather than leave tables empty, tempt people to dine outside peak meal times by offering them a really big discount.
For example, at RENNthai in Clarke Quay, you get 50 per cent off if you eat dinner between 6pm and 7pm. Wait until 7pm, and the discount is only 10 per cent.
The same goes for lunch. So, if you are looking for something to nibble on at 2pm, fire up Eatigo.
One catch is that there are not many restaurant listings on the app, and few are well known.
4 Konbini Story
Android Price: Free
Key feature: Gamenami account offers two restaurant deals.
Gamenami is a local mobile games development company, and their Konbini Story game is a match-three game not unlike the hundreds in the market.
It requires players to match different items, such as cup noodles and coffee. You do not have to play the game to enjoy the dining deals.
Press the Gamenami icon on the main menu to see a sub-menu with offers under four discount listings.
An example is a one-for-one lunch deal at Platypus Kitchen, Bugis Junction, while another offers a lobster roll free with $60 spent on dinner at Platypus Lobster Shack, China Square.
Gamenami says it is looking to add more restaurant deals.
