Real-time lyrics could show up in Spotify again soon. Users around the world have reported that lyrics are now appearing when they listen to Spotify, including on Spotify Beta 8.5.46.848.

However, Android Police notes that the feature seems to be server-side enabled as they are on the same version but don't see any lyrics.

This isn't exactly a new feature for Spotify though. The company previously offered real-time lyrics through Musixmatch, which it is now teaming up with again, after their first partnership ended in 2016.

Spotify didn't give a reason for why the collaboration was ending, only saying that their respective business strategies were now moving them each in different directions.

It's not clear what, if anything, has changed this time, but I for one am just glad that lyrics could be making a return.

After all, one of the joys of listening to music is actually understanding what the artist is saying - or mumbling - so you can horrify everyone with your singing in the shower.

Spotify hasn't officially confirmed that the feature will be making a comeback, but with widespread reports of it appearing on Twitter, there seems to be a good chance that it will.

At the moment, users who have access to the feature report that supported songs now have a "Lyrics" tag in the playlist so you can recognise them.

In addition, swiping up on a currently playing song will also reveal the lyrics, instead of the old "Behind the Lyrics" information card.
