PETALING JAYA: The four models of glass gas cooker hobs which were recalled by Electrolux Singapore are not sold in Malaysia.

This was confirmed by Electrolux Malaysia in a statement on Friday.

It assured customers that the said product models were "not sold or available" in Malaysia.

Electrolux Singapore had issued a recall of four models of its glass gas cooker hobs, and would refund consumers who had purchased them.

The Straits Times reported that Spring Singapore, the agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, had advised consumers to stop using the Electrolux glass gas cooker hobs.

It cited model numbers EGT9637CKP, EGT7637EGP, EGT7637CKP and EGT7627CKP that run on town gas had shattered the glass and caused small explosions.

The report also said that in one case, a user of the glass gas cooker hob was scalded.

The affected models were said to be sold from 2014 to 2016.

In a statement, Electrolux Singapore said prior to the affected products being sold, it was registered and approved in accordance with local laws and regulations.

"This is not a case of product defect as the product models are certified and compliant," it said.

Consumers can contact the customer service number in Singapore at +65 67273613 and +65 67273699 or email customer-care.sin@electrolux.com for further details on its recall and refund process.
