Casting call made for 'American HBO series filming in Singapore' - could it be Westworld?

[UPDATE, June 12]:

A new Instagram story was published by Hello Group that looks similar to the casting call that was removed yesterday.

However, the phrase "American HBO series" has been changed to "American series 'MLS'".

Could they be related? What does MLS stand for?

Your guess is as good as ours.

Lights. Camera. Action!

It's time to polish up those acting headshots and resumes because the Hollywood star is shining bright over Singapore.

In a series of Instagram stories posted by talent management agency Hello Group, it seems that an "American HBO series" will be filming in Singapore next month and the production team is looking for actors from our Little Red Dot.

The first post which was uploaded yesterday was a call for a "Caucasian male with short hair".

The second post was made today and was looking for Caucasian men and women who were between the ages of 15 and 50.

However, the two posts have since been removed.

What remains a mystery, though, is the yet-to-be-revealed American HBO series that is slated to film from July 3 to 8.

When contacted by AsiaOne, HBO Asia was unable to confirm which series it was.

However, one eagle-eyed Twitter user attyarr, seemed to have tossed a major contender into the ring: Westworld.

As fans have noticed, the season three trailer which dropped three weeks ago featured the familiar skyline of Singapore's financial district along with iconic landmarks such as the Maybank Tower, UOB Plaza and HSBC Building.

Additionally, FLY Entertainment also put out a casting call on Facebook for an unnamed HBO production on June 1.

The casting director listed is Emmy-nominated John Papsidera, who scored nominations for his work on Westworld in 2017 and 2018.

It is heartening to note that the casting call by FLY Entertainment did list roles for Asian talents.

AsiaOne has reached out to FLY Entertainment for a comment but they have yet to respond. [EDIT: FLY Entertainment has since clarified that they "are unable to reveal the show title and what is it about" because of a non-disclosure agreement.]

Incidentally, when AsiaOne contacted Hello Group, they were unable to provide more information and directed queries towards FLY Entertainment.

When asked if there would be further casting calls for Asian talents, Hello Group clarified that they were just following a brief that they had received.

After removing the Instagram stories on the casting call for reasons unknown, another call to audition was posted - this time, Chinese twin sisters for an HBO Asia show.

In response to a query from Channel NewsAsia for confirmation, a spokesperson from the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said: "Singapore is a unique blend of Asian and Western cultures, influenced by a vibrant mix of ethnicities and cultures.

"This offers content creators a rich kaleidoscope of locales to set their stories in.

"We welcome content creators from around the world to participate in Singapore’s vibrant media ecosystem, draw inspiration from our city scape and create innovative content for global audiences."

So, which HBO show do you think will be filming in Singapore?

All signs seem to point to Westworld but if you have other suggestions in that tinfoil hat of yours, we would love to hear it.
