Jay Chou and his wife, Hannah Quinlivan, welcomed their baby boy a couple of months ago - but it has now been revealed that things could have turned awry if not for a certain action star's deed.

Quinlivan recently told reporters that her co-star Simon Yam saved the life of her then-unborn child when filming was still underway, said a report from The Malay Mail Online.

She was speaking at a promotional event in Beijing held on Sept 2 for her new action flick, Smart Chase, which also stars Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom.

Quinlivan said Yam had insisted she sit out on a fight scene that required her to be repeatedly kicked in the abdomen.

At that time, the 24-year-old Taiwanese actress reportedly did not know she was pregnant with her son, Romeo.

In fact, she had wanted to go ahead with filming the scene without a body double. But luckily for Yam's interference, Quinlivan did not shoot the scene on her own.

The mother-of-two added that she will be forever grateful to Yam for what he did, according to The Malay Mail Online.

"It was a good thing that I asked Hannah to find a stunt double because even those people were getting kicked seven or eight times, and it would be extra dangerous since she was pregnant," the actor told Apple Daily.

Quinlivan has two kids with popstar Chou.

The two tied the knot in 2015 and had their daughter, Hathaway, in July that same year.
