Hong Kong actor Keith Lee Siu Kei dies of liver cancer aged 69

You may not know his name but you'll definitely recognise him in Hong Kong triad movies from the 1990s.

Veteran actor Keith Lee Siu Kei, 69, died of liver cancer on Sunday (June 2) in Hong Kong's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He had been plagued by ill health since he suffered a stroke in 2015.

After he fell sick, Keith semi-retired from showbiz. He spent his savings on medical treatment and got by with financial aid from his friends.

When he was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018, Keith considered giving up on treatment.

But he changed his mind and underwent surgery to remove the tumour after much persuasion from his family and friends.

The surgery went well, and Keith was thought to have won in his battle against cancer.

He married his girlfriend of 30 years Yau Hau-ching in February 2019.

Unfortunately, their marriage only lasted for three months before Keith's condition deteriorated. The cancer cells spread to his lungs, and efforts to resuscitate him failed.
