China's popular reality singing programme Singer has caught the attention of Grammy-winning US artiste John Legend, Sin Chew Daily reported.

In a Weibo post, Legend said he is curious about Chinese singer James Li, who is also known as "the Chinese John Legend".

The award-winning singer also said he heard that British singer Jessie J, who participated in the show, has been champion for three consecutive weeks.

Li, responding via Weibo, asked him to "just come and try".

"Why don't you jump on and find out," Jessie J told him.

Netizens in China were excited to see the interaction between the international singers on social media as this has sparked speculation that Legend may perform on the show.

Singer is one of the most popular reality music shows in China, drawing viewers from all over the country and across Asia.

It brings together established stars to perform against one another.
