Mariah Carey hits all the right notes at Singapore concert

SINGAPORE - Hitting all the right notes during her Elusive Chanteuse concert at Singapore's national stadium on Friday, Mariah Carey has redeemed herself.

Finally, a glimmer of the diva and her former chart-topping self.

One concert-goer told SPH Razor: "Mariah is truly diva. I love her". Another concert-goer interviewed by SPH Razor screamed "I love her! Yea!" after her concert ended.

It's been a bumpy ride for the songbird throughout her Asian tour since Oct 4. The hitmaker got off to a famously rough start in Tokyo where things got a little pitchy.

And somebody forgot her lyrics. Her off-kilter opening night went viral, and oh, the furious backlash. One angry fan even tweeted: "RIP Mariah!"

Things didn't get better in Seoul either.

But she found her feet in China, and was quite the hero.

According to her official website, Mariah was the first ever western artist to play five stadiums in China, and the first western artist to perform in Tianjin.

And looks like she weathered the storm in Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur pretty alright, too.

Given her mostly below par performances in Asia, Singapore fans who caught the concert here said that they were surprised that she exceeded expectations.

According to Hot FM91.3 DJ Cheryl Miles, she said: "Mariah Carey is so awesome she killed it, totally nailed it."

Loyal fans of Mariah also added: "She has been our idol since (the) young days until now. This is our first time (seeing her). She did a very good job. It was beyond our expectations."

Also present at Mariah's concert, Hot FM91.3 DJ Charmaine Yee said: "I think we came with the expectation that it could suck."

Skeptical about whether Mariah could have pulled off her performance due to the hiccups from her Tokyo and Seoul concerts, Charmaine said: "She still got it. She hit all the high notes."

Other fans interviewed by SPH Razor commended Mariah on hitting the "notes we were hoping to hear" despite her previous subpar performances.

Well let's hope Mariah keeps it going. She will hit the stage in Taipei, Manila and Bangkok after this, before starting her Australia tour.
