Move over Nathan Hartono, another Singaporean has made it to Sing! China grand finals

Move over Nathan Hartono, it is Joanna Dong's time to shine now.

The 35-year-old Singaporean singer will be vying for top spot in the grand final of Sing! China 2 which will be held on Oct 8 at the Beijing National Stadium.

She emerged the winner of the playoff round, beating fellow teammates Darren, Janice Tan and Olinda Cho to become Jay Chou's team representative to compete at the finale of the singing competition.

Dong was reported to have sung the English song "Open Arms" for her solo performance and belted out a duet - 1993 hit "True Love Song" - with veteran Taiwanese singer Harlem Yu.

Just last week, she charmed the audience with her rendition of the Chinese classic "I Want Your Love" and also won 47 out of 51 votes from a panel of judges made up of music producers and critics.

Since her first appearance at the Chinese singing competition, Dong has earned praises for her jazz interpretations of popular songs.

And netizens in Asia loved her performances too, saying that she has great stage presence and sings well.
