Malaysian MMA movie stars Zul Ariffin and Remy Ishak in Singapore to promote film

Don't be surprised if you see your favourite Malaysian actors Zul Ariffin and Remy Ishak along Orchard Road tomorrow.

The stars of action flick, Sangkar, are in town to promote the film.

Sangkar, produced by mm2 Entertainment in partnership with Primeworks Studios, Astro Shaw and Infinitus Gold, is Malaysia's first Malay-language Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) film.

Directed by multiple award-winner Kabir Bhatia, the film follows the journey of two MMA fighters — Adam (Zul) and Johan (Remy) — who get into a fight outside the ring, resulting in the latter suffering severe injuries.

Filled with guilt, Adam attempts to redeem himself by resorting to underground fights for money which he shares with Johan's family, while Johan tries to overcome his struggles and fights to regain his health.

Apart from Zul and Remy, Sangkar stars Mira Filzah, Fadlan Hazim, Andy Teh, international MMA athlete, James “Sledgehammer” McSweeney and MMA fighter Saiful Merican.

There will also be three new songs featuring budding talents from Malaysia's hip-hop scene, namely Dinho, DeLaFlare, Mali & SXPH, NtahSape2Ntah, 000 & Kid Raww. The film is scored by renowned composer, Luka Kuncevic.

For those who are interested, Zul and Remy will be making hall appearances at The Cathay tomorrow (Sept 7) at 2pm.

Sangkar is now showing exclusively at Cathay Cineplexes. You can buy tickets here.
