Best thing I ate this week: Beef topped with foie gras

'Best thing I ate this week' is a series where we share the best things we have eaten around Singapore. Read more here.

What: Gyuniku Foie Gras ($40++)
Where: Keyaki, Level 4 Pan Pacific Hotel, 7 Raffles Boulevard

Two of my favourite things came together on a plate to become the culinary highlight of my week.

The thick, wobbly chunks of foie gras were rich and melt-in-your-mouth silky. But I felt the fatty liver was pan-seared a tad unevenly and too lightly - the outside was not as charred and crusty as I would've preferred.

Nonetheless, indulging in foie gras is always a heavenly experience, at least for me.

The other star of my meal was a thin steak grilled to tender perfection. I liked that the teriyaki sauce it was served with was not overly sweet.

Be warned, though, that unless you have a small appetite, this dish alone won't fill your stomach.

Other items on the menu at Keyaki include standard Japanese fare such as sashimi (from $6++) and sushi (from $5++), as well as various tempura and teppanyaki dishes (from $8++). Kaiseki and prix fixe meals (from $85++) are also available.
