Football: Gomez injury hands Klopp first Liverpool setback

LONDON - New Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp suffered his first setback Wednesday when it was reported that teenage defender Joe Gomez will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 18-year-old, who was signed from second division Charlton in June, was forced from the pitch after hurting his right knee in the 80th minute of England Under-21s' 3-0 victory against Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

Press Association Sport reported that Liverpool will confirm on Thursday that the 18-year-old left-back's season is over.

Klopp takes charge of his first Liverpool match at Tottenham on Saturday.
