Boob job gone wrong: Woman's breast fillers migrate to her belly

A middle-aged woman in China recently sought help at the hospital after realising that her breasts had shrunk dramatically while her belly grew bigger.

There, doctors found that her breast fillers had migrated southward to settle in her belly, NetEase reported.

Years ago, she had injected a substance called Amazingel into her breasts for a fuller bosom.

A semi-permanent filler made of polyacrylamide hydrogel, Amazingel was popular among Chinese women as they did not have to go under the knife.

However, the filler was found to be incompatible with the human body and tended to migrate to other body parts such as the stomach or the armpits.

Aesthetic plastic surgery journals also documented the numerous complications caused by the substance such as irreversible tissue damage, deformity, lumps, pain, and hardening of the breasts.

Amazingel was also linked with breast cancer, which led the filler to be banned from use in China 10 years ago.

"When you open the breast, the filler comes out like mayonnaise," was how a plastic surgeon described the removal of the substance.

The fillers have since been removed from the woman's abdomen, Shanghaiist reported.
