SINGAPORE - Ocean Health, a local health supplement company, is sponsoring free cholesterol screenings for the first 1,000 people who register at any participating Guardian Pharmacy outlet.
The initiative aims to save 1,000 lives by raising awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy cholesterol levels for a healthy heart.
The intake of food high in trans and saturated fats is one of the causes of unhealthy lipid levels in the blood. Examples of such foods include deep fried food, processed meats and hydrogenated oils such as palm oil and coconut milk.
According to Ocean Health, unhealthy cholesterol levels is directly linked to the incidence of cardiovascular disease, which is the number one killer of both men and women in Singapore.
Registration will be from October 29 to November 18, and the screening will be held from November 12 to 29 from 9am to 12pm.
