Booking an appointment with a medical specialist could become easier with a portal launched yesterday.
Called DocDoc.com, it lets patients search for and book appointments with over 11,000 doctors - such as dentists, cardiologists and paediatricians - for free.
Established here by a firm called DocDoc, the site allows patients to see and book available appointment slots at participating specialists, who pay a monthly fee.
After a booking is made, DocDoc.com sends a reminder to users one day ahead of, as well as two hours before, an appointment.
About 44 per cent of the doctors listed are in private practice. The rest are doctors in the public sector.
An iPhone app version of the portal will be released in the next couple of weeks, followed by an Android app.
