Hospitals told of new virus to ensure vigilance: MOH

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is monitoring the situation closely after the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued a global alert on an unknown virus related to the deadly Sars infection.

It has informed all hospitals of the WHO alert to ensure vigilance in monitoring the situation.

MOH said that for now, there is no need for any additional measures to be taken, reported Channel NewsAsia.

WHO issued the alert on two confirmed cases. They are a Qatari man, 49, in critical condition in a UK hospital with a never-before-seen virus similar to Sars, and a Saudi woman, 60, who died earlier this year.
