Malaysia to clamp down on fertility centres

KUALA LUMPUR - All Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) facilities and service providers commonly known as fertility centres will have to be licensed once the proposed National ART Act is passed.

Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia past president Dr Mohamad Farouk Abdullah said the draft of the proposed Act was almost complete.

"The working group is in final consultations with stakeholders and religious authorities," he said.

The Health Ministry has held an online public engagement exercise before finalising the draft.
