Singapore's largest yoga event sees record turnout

SINGAPORE - Singapore's largest logo event, Yoga by the Sea, saw a record turnout of 2,700 participants last Saturday.

For the first time ever, the event had a musical twist. The workout session was accompanied by the Singapore Management University's Symphonia and Obligato, which provided live symphony music to participants to enhance their yoga experience.

Organised by GlaxoSmithKline, the event aimed to take the minds of busy individuals off work and help them relax with a therapeutic activity.

"It is imperative for us to inculcate a healthy work-life balance among Singaporeans so that they in turn can improve their overall well being," said Dr Chia Shi-Lu, MP of Tanjong Pagar and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Singapore General Hospital.

The mass yoga event was first initiated in 2009, where it earned a spot in the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of people doing yoga together.
