US bodybuilder, 26, dies after choking on food at home

The bodybuilding world has lost a heavyweight.

Dallas McCarver was found dead at home on Monday (Aug 21) after reportedly choking on his food.

He was 26.

Just before being found unconscious by a friend, the champion bodybuilder had spoken on the phone with his girlfriend, WWE star Dana Brooke, the Daily Mail reported.

Brooke, who is also a bodybuilder, told celebrity news website TMZ that McCarver had been preparing to make dinner.

She said his last words to her were: "I love you, goodbye."

The celebrity wrestler added that her boyfriend is believed to have died due to choking on food and did not appear as if he "was trying to harm himself".

In fact, the bodybuilding star was seen earlier on Monday working hard in the gym, said TMZ.

McCarver became a breakthrough star in the bodybuilding circuit at the age of 21.

He once had a health scare back back in March this year when he collapsed onstage at the 2017 Arnold Classic Australia, according to various bodybuilding sites.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Brooke announced she had set up the Dallas McCarver Foundation - to help underprivileged children - in honour of the late star.
