What does the colour of your menstrual blood tell you?

The colour of your menstrual blood reveals quite a bit about your health and fertility.

According to holistic health counsellor and functional nutritionist Dr Alisa Vitti, most periods can be described in three ways: frozen blueberries, strawberry jam and cranberry juice.

"Frozen blueberries" indicate above-average oestrogen levels, which might mean the uterus lining could be thicker than normal and causes heavier cycles.

"Strawberry jam" points to low oestrogen levels, which can result in vaginal dryness, low libido and hair loss.

Everything is pretty nice and normal with "cranberry juice", but women with these periods are prone to PMS, which, by the way, isn't normal and suggests hormonal imbalance.

Keep an eye out the next time your crimson wave hits.
