Widow pleads for mercy killing of invalid son

A widow from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, has filed a petition in a magistrate's court here seeking the mercy killing of her 36-year-old invalid son if the government refuses to pay his medical bills, reported Malaysia Nanban.

P. Lakshmamma, 64, said her son Janardhan completed his studies in 1996 and later got a job in Australia.

He went to Bangalore to obtain a visa and was involved in an accident on his way home.

The injuries to his head and spine left him bedridden.

His father Ramachandraiah died 10 years ago and Lakshmamma is left to support her son on her meagre earnings, together with help from philanthropists.

The magistrate's court ordered the state to handle the matter.
