Instant karma? Snatch thief in China runs directly into police station after doing this

One would-be thief's attempt to flee the scene of a robbery ended up with him literally running into the arms of the law in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province.

The incident took place on March 31 and was captured by surveillance cameras in the area.

The surveillance footage shows a young woman focused on her cellphone at an intersection when a man standing nearby crept up and suddenly snatched her phone away. The thief thought he had made away with the cellphone as the woman fell to the ground while chasing after him.

However, to the surprise of witnesses, the thief ran across the street and directly into the police station.

"He looked bewildered and puzzled when he rushed in," said Kong, a police officer at the Nanling Police Station in Shenzhen.

The police officers on duty stopped the man and returned the cellphone to its owner later. "Criminal suspects in general are cunning. But this one ran directly into the police station after the robbery, apparently unfamiliar with the road condition, only to be caught by us police officers," said Kong.

The suspect surnamed Chang is 38 and came to Shenzhen not long ago, without a job and permanent residence. He is currently under criminal detention.
