Irish band Boyzone to perform in Singapore in May

SINGAPORE - The boys from Boyzone are back and this time, they'll be heading to Singapore as part of their Boyzone BZ20 The Anniversary Tour.

The award-winning Irish boyband, which first debuted in 1993, will be performing on May 23 at the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands.

Its members, lead singer Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Michael Graham and Keith Duffy, will be belting out favourite hits such as Picture of You, Words, Baby Can I Hold You and No Matter What, among others.

Boyzone split in 1999 after a sell-out show in January 2000, but reformed in 2007. However, band member Steven Gately's death in 2009 left its four members to continue their musical journey.

The BZ20 Anniversary Tour commenced in 2013 and has been seen by 200,000 people so far. Boyzone will be travelling to Jakarta, Bangkok and Quezon City in the Philippines after their Singapore gig.

On how it felt like to be performing in a concert tour again, Ronan said they "were shocked shocked by the reaction from people.

"Every night felt like the first night - it made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. We just couldn't believe the fans, and I think people were shocked at how good we were too.

"We were eight years older but we were fitter and more passionate about it and I think we all sounded better than ever too," said Ronan.

"The fans wanted to be entertained and feel nostalgic and maybe feel 10 or 15 years younger again for two hours and we could do that, no problem," said Keith.

"We went out to enjoy every minute."
