K-pop's biggest stars attend Mnet Music Awards 2014 in Hong Kong

South Korea's biggest stars and celebrities descended upon the Hong Kong Asia World Expo Arena on Wednesday night for one of K-pop's biggest music events, the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Also known as MAMA, the awards has been dubbed as Asia's response to the MTV Video Music Awards, with top K-pop acts such as singers G-Dragon, Taeyang and UI to perform at the awards show.

Other stars, such as Hong Kong singer Eason Chan, also graced the event and American R&B singer, John Legend, who attended MAMA for the first time, received the International Favourite Artist award.

The 2014 MAMAs featured 17 award categories.

The Best Female Artist award was given to IU, who saw much success in 2014 with her remake album, collaborations with other artist, and more, while BigBang member Taeyang won Best Male Artist award for his solo album, Rise.

Taeyang also bagged another award for Best Male Vocal Performance, along with his counterpart for the award, Ailee, who was awarded Best Female Vocal Performance.

CN Blue received Best Band Performance for their song Can't Stop, while boy group Infinite were awarded the K-Pop Fan's Choice for a male artist.

Sistar and EXO walked away with the Best Female and Male Group awards respectively.

But the night's biggest award, Best Album of the Year, which was presented by Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, went to EXO for their album Overdose.
