Taiwanese bubble tea chain Milksha to open its first Southeast Asian outlet at Suntec City Mall

Can there be any more bubble tea shops in Singapore? The short answer is, yes.

Milksha, voted the top bubble tea brand among Taiwanese university students, is set to open two outlets in Singapore soon - one at Suntec City Mall, and another at Funan mall when it reopens on June 28.

The chain, known as Milkshop in Taiwan, boasts over 230 outlets in Taiwan, 20 in China and two in Hong Kong. It prides itself on being preservative- and chemical-free, using only fresh milk, with no artificial colouring and ingredients.

So what else sets Milksha apart?

Its honey pearls, which are made in Taiwan and frozen using a special 'quick-freeze' technology to maintain the texture of the pearls, before being air-flown to Singapore.

The brand will launch four series here: Fresh Milk Series, Fresh Milk Tea Latte Series, Premium Tea Series and Special Concoctions. 

Milksha's five signatures include Azuki Matcha Milk, Fresh Taro Milk, Valrhona 100% Cocoa Milk, Refreshing Orange Green Tea and Earl Grey Latte with Honey Pearl. 

The Azuki Matcha Milk features matcha specially imported from century-old Japanese brand Izumo Tousuien, while the Fresh Taro Milk is made with unique taro from Dajia in Taiwan. The taro is mashed by hand, then blended with the fresh milk.

As with every new bubble tea brand opening we've seen recently, snaking queues on opening day are practically a given. 

You may get a chance to beat the queue however, by pre-ordering the Fresh Taro Milk, Azuki Matcha Milk or Valrhona Cocoa Fresh Milk on travel booking platform Klook, and get $2 off your purchase.

Limited to 320 cups, customers can place their order from June 10 and collect their drinks at an exclusive Klook queue at Milksha's flagship store at Suntec City Mall on the day of opening.

As of writing, the store's opening dates have yet to be revealed. Watch this space for more details.
