12 foot long crocodile caught in Malaysia

SIMUNJAN - They have always seen a crocodile roaming in their rivers and they have always heard about crocodile attacks upriver.

Fearing for the worst villagers of Kampung Sageng decided to catch the wild reptile by using a chicken as bait.

"The crocodile took the bait after waiting half a day," said 39 year old villager Ismail Tahir.

Ismail said they set up the bait on Friday night and believed the crocodile took it sometime early in the morning.

"We saw the line was tight and we were shocked to see what we pulled in," said Ismail.

The 12 foot long crocodile died two hours after it was taken to shore at 8am yesterday.

Ismail also said there are several random crocodile attacks upriver but as to date no casualties reported.

"Villagers there also said they have lost their chickens and even cats, which they believed was eaten by the crocodile," said Ismail.
