JOHOR BARU - A 12-year-old boy was found hanged in his adoptive family's house in Kampung Cahaya Baru near Masai here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Jokhiri Abdul Aziz said police received a call about the incident at around 4.25pm on Wednesday.

He said the boy has been living with his adoptive family since he was a baby, and at the time of incident, the boy was alone in the house with his 57-year-old aunt.

"The victim had informed the aunt that he wanted to take a bath at around 3.30pm, which is located at the kitchen area.

"Feeling something amiss, the aunt went to check on him but found the victim hanging," he said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the boy was cared by his adoptive mother and adoptive sister after his adoptive father passed away.

He was still schooling but was described as a loner and rarely talked to his guardians or friends.

"A medical officer from Klinik Kesihatan Masai confirmed his death," Supt Jokhiri said, adding that the case was classified as sudden death.
