KUALA LUMPUR - The special task force will investigate and determine the authenticity of the documents and other materials related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd received from The Edge Media Group, a police source said.

"The report on the outcome of the investigation will be submitted to the Attorney-General," the source said yesterday.

On Tuesday, The Edge handed over documents, printed e-mails and hard discs relating to 1MDB in its possession to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department in Bukit Aman.

The day before, The Edge Financial Daily published a four-page article focusing on the joint venture between 1MDB and PetroSaudi International.

In the report, the daily claimed US$1.83bil (S$2.5 billion) that 1MDB had invested in PetroSaudi between 2009 and 2011 was a scheme to defraud Malaysia.
