Anwar and wife hurt in head-on collision

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim fractured his arm when he and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were involved in a car accident on Tuesday night.

Anwar suffered a fracture close to his right shoulder and doctors have asked him to use a sling, The Rakyat Post reported.

Dr Wan Azizah, who is Parti Keadilan Rakyat president and Kajang state assemblyman, had minor bruises.

There was no need for surgery and both politicians were discharged from Damansara Specialist Medical Centre.

The accident was confirmed by Keadilan communications director Fahmi Fadzil, but he did not explain the exact nature and cause of what took place.

The driver of the car and a bodyguard travelling with them were not injured, The Malay Mail said.

Anwar was believed to be heading home after dinner when another car entered their lane and hit them head-on.
