Anwar's father laid to rest

KAJANG - The father of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was laid to rest at the Sungai Ramal Muslim Cemetery on Sunday afternoon.

After the Zohor prayers, Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman's body was brought to the cemetery where he was buried at 2.30pm.

PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar were present during the burial.

Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali and PKR leader Saifuddin Nasution were also there to accompany Anwar and his family.

"The Selangor government would like to convey their condolences to Anwar and his family. We pray that they stay strong during this testing time," said Azmin.

Azmin also thanked the Home Ministry and Prisons department for allowing Anwar to fulfil the last rites for his father.

Ibrahim who was Seberang Perai Central MP from 1959 to 1969, passed away at 1.45am on Sunday.
