A five-month pregnant woman underwent an abortion so that she can donate her bone marrow to her 25-year-old brother, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The 27-year-old woman from Anhui, China, went for an abortion after she learned that she was a suitable donor.

Xiang Long Yan, who has a daughter, decided to save her 25-year-old brother's life after discussions with her husband and family members.

She even paid her brother's medical fees of 300,000 yuan (RM170,000) with her savings.

Another woman from Hubei, China, also decided to go for an abortion to save the life of her twin brother, who is suffering from leukaemia.

The 24-year-old He Xi said it was a difficult decision but she decided to save the life of her brother.
