Baby run over by mum in car

The 10-month-old baby crawled out of the home, but nobody seemed to have noticed.

At the same time, the baby's mother was reversing the family car in their Kuala Terengganu home for her husband to take it to work.

Housewife Faziah Yusof, 35, then heard a thud. When she got out of the car, she was horrified to see that her son was stuck under the car, the New Straits Times reported. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zamri Samsuddin said the mother of six did not realise that her youngest child, Muhammad Faqih Mohd Fitri, had crawled out of the house towards the back of the car.

The couple rushed the boy to hospital, but he was pronounced dead due to internal injuries.

A neighbour, who was identified as Kak Ton, told Malaysian daily Harian Metro on Thursday that no one at home had noticed that the baby had crawled out of it.

Said the 35-year-old: "I saw the baby crawling out and moving in the direction of the car.

"I screamed but Faziah didn't hear me. I ran to the car and knocked on the window to get her to stop. I tried to pull the baby out but I couldn't do so because both of his legs were caught under the tyres."
