IPOH - She heard a loud knock on her back door. Babysitter Asmidar Mohd Abdul Wahab, 43, took a peek from a window but all she saw was that someone had left a brown box at her doorstep at about 8.55pm on Friday in Taman Bemban Raya, Batu Gajah.

When she opened the door, she was stunned to find an infant inside the box.

Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasri Omar said Asmidar brought the baby into the house before she called the police.

"She is believed to be a week old and was wrapped in a cloth napkin, with her umbilical cord still attached.

"The baby is healthy. There were no injuries found on her," he said.

ACP Mohd Nasri is urging those with information to come forward to provide details about the baby.

"We want to trace the parents of the baby," he said.
