PETALING JAYA - From practical gifts such as blenders to more cutesy things like smiling teddy bears, consumers are making a beeline to shopping malls during the Christmas season.
"Since we are located in a residential area, home appliances, toys and beauty products are some of the more popular gifts," said Amy Teo, a senior store manager of Parkson in 1 Utama.
She noted that blenders and mixers were also a hit with the shoppers this year.
A check at the mall here showed that electronics are all the rage for the men.
Same go for fragrances, belts and casual outfits.
Consultant Kyan Ho, 27, said: "I have my eye on electronics for Christmas this year. Even a wireless mouse would make my Christmas!"
The little ones have their eyes set on stuffed toys, toy cars and dolls.
Jewel Chen and Adele Shum, both five, were interested in the dolls based on characters from the animated Disney film, Frozen. They went home happy with what they wanted after a shopping spree with their parents.
For the ladies, cosmetics, jewellery and clothes are most definitely on their shopping list.
Siblings Stephanie and Julianne De Souza took a more orthodox approach to Christmas gifts, making handicrafts for their loved ones instead of buying them.
The sisters said they would love to have new clothes for Christmas.
When asked what she wished for Christmas, housewife Lydia De Souza, 42, replied cheekily: "Anything that ends with carats!"
