Body of decomposed Indonesian woman found in Malaysia apartment

KUALA LUMPUR - The decomposing body of an Indonesian woman was discovered after her neighbour became suspicious of the pungent stench coming from her apartment at Bandar Baru Ampang on Saturday.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairuldin Saad said police received a call from the neighbour around 5pm on the incident.

According to him, police broke into the apartment unit on the third floor and found the body of an Indonesian woman, believed to be in her 40s, sprawled on a bed.

ACP Khairuldin said the victim was still in her pyjamas when police found her body.

"We believe she had been dead for four to five days."

"Based on marks and bits of cloth on her neck, we suspect that she was strangled to death using a pillow case," he added.

ACP Khairuldin said police have identified the woman based on information in her bankbook.

"She was staying in the house with her Bangladeshi husband from her second marriage."

"Her first husband was also a Bangladeshi," he added.

ACP Khairuldin said police are looking for the woman's current husband, a lorry driver, to facilitate investigations but he has since disappeared.

"There were no signs of forced entry around the apartment and her valuables were still intact.

"Her body was sent to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for a post-mortem," he said.

The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
