Boy drowns in fish cage

IPOH - The body believed to be that of a 13-year-old boy washed away by strong currents during a fishing trip on Sungai Perak has been found near Kota Lama Kiri, near Sungai Siput.

The body, believed to be that of Muhammad Ismail Mazalan, 13, was found trapped in a fish rearing cage at about 9.10am yesterday.

It was found about 4km from Karai's Victoria Bridge, where the boy and his friends had been fishing on Thursday.

On that day, the boys waded into the river to remove a log floating at their spot.

Muhammad had told his friends to sit on the log. However, they fell in as the log rolled, but Muhammad was taken by the current.
