Boy's hand blown off by exploding firecracker

KLANG - Hari Raya is meant to be a joyous occasion, but not for a four-year-old boy who played with a very powerful firecracker.

In an accident most likely related to illegal firecrackers, his left palm and fingers were blown off by an exploding cracker.

According to sources, the incident happened on Monday as the boy was playing with his friends.

The children had been playing with a type of firecracker called "A Bomb" in the compound of his home in Taman Mutiara at Tanjong Sepat.

The boy was first rushed to the neighbourhood government clinic before being taken to the Banting district hospital.

He has since been transferred to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah here.

Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Zailan Tasir said the boy's family had yet to lodge a police report.

"I think it will be done soon and we'll have the details then," he said.
