A rubber tapper in Johor was killed when she was attacked by an enraged female buffalo at a rubber estate in Kampung Mensudut Pindah on Friday at about 11.30am.
Ms Rosnani Wahid, 46, suffered serious head and body injuries when the buffalo rammed into her, reported The New Straits Times. The mother-of-five died on the spot.
The buffalo's rope had got snagged on some tree roots and the animal had struggled to free itself for about an hour.
It then somehow broke free and Ms Rosnani, who was tapping rubber nearby, tried to chase the animal away. The enraged animal rammed her with its head and continued to attack her after she fell.
Several villagers tried to help, but the buffalo appeared likely to attack them as well.
The villagers later retrieved the bloodied victim and secured the animal after it calmed down.
Segamat deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent M. Anuar Ismail said that police have classified the case under Sudden Death Report. "The victim's remains were sent to the Segamat Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.
